About Me

Me…KiKi

Hi! Thanks for stopping by and spending a little time here reading about my journey to natural hair…to Sisterlocks. I appreciate the visit and I pray that your time spent here will be an enjoyable one…and perhaps even an informative one.

Allow me to introduce myself…my name is KeAndri. However, I prefer to be called by my nickname, “KiKi”, given to me by my father at birth. I am a God-fearing, professional, married woman. I am originally from Jackson, Mississippi, lived in California (Los Angeles), Colorado (Colorado Springs), and Illinois (Chicago), and currently reside in Indiana (Gary). I am wife to a wonderful husband, Derek, whom I’ve been with for 16 years and married to for almost 11 years. My husband has blessed our family with his vast knowledge and teaching of God’s Word. I thank him for all of his love and support! He has been very supportive of this hair journey and couldn’t be happier with me wanting to go natural with Sisterlocks.

Me and My Husband

I am mother to a 11 year old son named Malik. I have been blessed with a son who not only excels in school as an honor roll student, but who has an inquisitive mind and builds computers and other electronic gadgets at such a young age. He thinks it’s cool that Mom will be sporting Sisterlocks soon.

Me And My Son

Careerwise…I am currently working as a Chemist for a wastewater treatment facility in Chicago, but hope to transition into a career in Forensic Science upon graduating with my Master’s degree (7/19/08). I have always loved math and sciences, especially Chemistry. I couldn’t have picked a better career path…suits me well!

Work

Many of you may have heard…the year 2008 is the year of ‘New Beginnings’. I truly believe that it is because the Lord has blessed me and my family with several new beginnings this year…the founding of me and my husband’s online ministry, Spiritual Eyes Ministry (http://spiritualeyesministry.com)…my online podcast, Spiritual Eyes Ministry Devotional Podcast (http://spiritualeyesdevotionals.podomatic.com)…my graduation and receipt of my Master’s Degree (7/19/08), a home in Alabama left to my husband by his grandmother for us to move into some time in the near future, and the start of this journey towards Sisterlocks. Life is just wonderful and God is truly good!

I hope you continue to check back often to monitor my progress and I look forward to sharing my Sisterlock photos soon. Be safe, have faith, and be blessed!!!

  1. Looks like we are on the same journey. My hair is long enough for Sisterlocks, I am now looking for a good consultant in the South Holland or Chicago area.

  2. Yes it does! My hair is about long enough for Sisterlocks also…1 1/2 to 2 inches of new growth around most of my head, except the nape. I have mostly permed hair, so that’s why I’m trying to grow out new growth. The nape of my head has about 1 inch or a little over. I had been worried about the short hair around my nape area, but not anymore. A couple of ladies in the LockItUp group had the same issue and assured me that it is possible to still get Sisterlocks. Whew…BIG sigh of relief…LOL. Now, I’m just waiting until after my graduation to take down these kinky twist braids and start with my consultations. I’m looking for a good consultant also in the Chicago area. I have names of a few that were recommended to me. If you would like the names, let me know. Good luck with your journey!!!

  3. Hi Kiki!

I was too excited to hear that you live in GI! I am from Gary and currently live in Arizona. My mother and a good friend of ours hosts natural hair get togethers about once a month. She has LONG sisterlocks! She started with a consultanat in Chicago, but has since found one that lives in the Mansards apartments, I think the area is considere Highland. If you want more info shoot me an email and I’ll get her info to you…I have to be honest though, my mom thinks that the Indiana consultant takes more time than the Chicago consultant… I may too late with this info, I have to go back and read your recent posts :-). Anywhoo, here’s one GI girl(initially Sisterlocked) to another!! Be blessed!

BTW if you get a chance visit Spirit of God Fellowship 1010 Roosevelt, across from the old Art’s Bakery, that’s my parents church and school.

  4. Hi Cherry,

I don’t know very many people in Gary, except a few neighbors and members of my church. So…it’s always nice to meet someone from Gary. Let’s keep in touch!

Also, I will visit your parents’ church in the near future. Thank you so much and you, too, be blessed!

    KiKi
